The iPad 2 release date is just over a week away, and we’ve put together a list of some of the apps we’re hoping to see on it. We chose several apps that already make use of the iPhone camera, apps already teased at online, or apps already available on the original iPad, that could make the best use of the iPad’s 2 new powerful insides. Infinity Blade (And a sequel) Still a beauty long after its launch, and the watermark for high-end games for gamers. The original has now been...

2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Sky News has launched an impressive new iPad app that's free to download and use for a limited time. The app allows you to pick and choose from the current top stories that are presented in a grid. When you tap on an individual video, it moves to the centre of the screen and begins playing while a range of related stories, quotes and articles arrange themselves around the sides. You can even be reading one article with the original video playing away in the corner. It's incredibly well...

Office Rush for iPhone and Android: Climb the corporate ladder, kill ninjas
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Office Rush is a cool puzzler-platformer hybrid for iPhone and Android devices. It's a curious meld of Shift's nogging-scratching wrapped up in the pen and post-it notes stylings of games like Doodle Jump and Doodle Bowling. The object of Office Rush is to climb the corporate ladder. You do this by starting from the bottom as a security guard, clearing pesky ninjas out of the loading bays. Like you do. After that, you rise to the lofty heights of secretary, where your job is to fetch...

Infinity Blade gets new arenas, enemies, items- and a price cut
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Good news for iPhone and iPad gamers, Infinity Blade, the big-scale sword beat-em-up has gone on sale, and is now a bargain £1.79. Powered by Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3, it looks gorgeous on an iPhone, especially with that retina display, but it really needs an iPad to show it in its full glory. It’s not surprising that been it’s one of the apps chosen to showcase the new iPad 2. But for those of who bought the app on its release (or very recently, cough, cough... us.)...

Falling Fred splats onto the iPhone and iPad
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Falling Fred is is pretty self-descriptive; you play as Fred, and you’re falling. But you at least have some say in how you fall, using the iPad’s built-in gyroscope. Tilt to guide Fred vertically and horizontally, away from walls, air vents, pipes, and buzz saws. It does make you start to wonder what sort of building this poor guy is falling through. It’s got the parental advisory stamp on it, so no playing unless you’re over 17; and it’s as grisly as any other...

App Friday: iTunes goes gaming giddy. Sega, Gamesloft, and Capcom cut their prices
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Street Fighter IV, Sonic and Spiderman are all on sale. Now we’re not exactly sure of the reasoning behind it, but several of the big gaming companies, have gone mad on their mark-downs. Capcom, Sega, Gamesloft and EA are all in on it; and we’ve searched through their back catalogues to grab the best of what’s out there. Sadly, Capcom only have Street Fighter IV on the cheap now, we missed out on a discount Phoenix Wright, though that’s still a steal at £3.00...

Similarly, in Spain you could choose Barcelona- or a bunch...

Hands-On: BBC iPlayer on iPad
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
It’s finally here. Getting the one point out of the way first, this sadly isn’t a full substitute for the desktop BBC iPlayer- well at least not just yet. Although the Beeb have promised future additions to the iPlayer app, there’s currently no ability to download or pre-stream a programme yet. This means you’ll need a good, stable WiFi signal to make full use of the iPlayer. The front of the app is a WinPho7-esque magazine of BBC’s televisual highlights. From...

Dead Space jumps out onto your iPhone
2 years ago | POSTED IN iPad
Already 8th in the iTunes’ UK’s paid games chart, Dead Space for the iPhone and iPad attempts to fill in the gap between Dead Space, the hit PS3 and Xbox360 game, and its sequel, out today. This means you play a brand new story, filled with plenty of Dead Space-style craziness and scares. A Horror-shooter, we played it with the headphones, as recommended, and it’s bloody nerve-wracking. The sound quality is great, and really puts you on edge as you try to sort out what’s...
