Lego Mini Cooper is 1,077 pieces of awesome

Official Mini Cooper Lego model immortalises the British classic car.

Ever wanted to restore a Mini, but lack the space in the garage? Here’s the next best thing. The famous toy brick manufacturer has revealed its latest official model, the Mini Cooper, as part of its ‘Creator’ line of toys.

Admit it, you want one.
Admit it, you want one.

The Lego Mini Cooper is based on the iconic British classic that made its debut in 1959 and not the BMW-built recreation. It is comprised 1,077 Lego bricks and measures 110mm in height, 240mm in length and 140mm in width.

A lot of effort has gone into making the Lego Mini Cooper an authentic toy. It comes in British Racing Green with white racing stripes, for starters, and in the boot is a picnic hamper. The dashboard has a wood effect and the seats, which can be folded forward, are tan coloured with a suitably 1960s pattern.

There’s even the trademark front fog lights, a moving gear stick, steering wheel and handbrake plus a blanket for laying the picnic hamper down on. In the boot you can find a spare wheel under a special compartment. Did we mention you can remove the roof for convertible motoring?

All that brick-based awesomeness comes at a price. £75, in fact, which is a lot of money for a bunch of plastic blocks – no matter how intricately put together they are. Still, we really, really want one.

The Mini Cooper is the follow up to the 1,332-piece Lego VW Camper Van and will hit the shops in August 2014. In the meantime, check out this other exceptionally cool Mini.
