BBC adds 30 days of S4C catch up content to iPlayer

Content from Welsh language channel S4C can now be streamed from BBC iPlayer.

S4C can now be selected as an individual channel on the desktop version of iPlayer alongside BBC One, Radio 1 and Scots Gaelic channel BBC ALBA.

Content currently available includes new rom-com Cara Fi (Love Me) and kids favourites Sam Tân (Fireman Sam) and Dennis a Dannedd (Dennis the Menace).

While S4C content can still be accessed on the Clic service the move to iPlayer broadens the availability of Welsh-language content.

BBC iPlayer is available on a greater number of platforms than S4C’s players, which are limited to desktops, iOS, YouView and TV Player

Director of BBC Cymru Wales Rhodri Talfan Davies said: “It’s fantastic to welcome S4C to BBC iPlayer. This important development makes a wealth of Welsh language output available in one place for the very first time – across S4C and BBC Radio Cymru – making it even easier for audiences to find the programmes they love.

“It’s also a very tangible example of how the creative partnership that exists between the two broadcasters is making a real difference.”

As with most shows available on iPlayer, S4C content from the last 30 days is available to watch.

Ian Jones, S4C Chief Executive added: “As the only independent broadcaster to offer content on BBC iPlayer, we hope that it will offer additional opportunities for the public to view the fantastic range of content S4C broadcasts.

“This will be a very welcome addition to the range of platforms and services through which S4C content is available, and help maintain the huge growth we have seen in those accessing our programmes online.”
