HBO hit fantasy series Game of Thrones has surfaced on Google Play. Each episode will set viewers back £1.89.
Viewers will also be able to purchase the entire season three of the show for £18.49.
Google managed to strike a deal with HBO to get the show onto its TV service. The deal also means that other HBO shows such as True Blood, Veep, Girls and Boardwalk Empire will also appear on Google Play.
Older shows, such as The Wire, The Sopranos and Band of Brothers available to own and stream via Google Play from next week.
The deal ratchets up the rivalry between Google Play and Apple TV as iTunes currently doesn’t have the rights to the show at present.
Colin Smith, director of international digital distribution for HBO said “We are delighted to bring our wide range of programming to Google Play in the UK, and expand on our existing relationship in the US.
“This is an exciting time for HBO in the digital space, and we can’t wait to work with Google over the coming weeks and months to deliver all of our series and films to their platform, including a host of new and returning HBO shows throughout 2014.”
Tesco-owned Blinkbox has already had the latest series of the fantasy show on its TV service back in July.
Now TV’s Entertainment Monthly Pass was launched in October which also shows box sets of the series.
