Sky hosting Game of Thrones S5 world premiere at the Tower of London

Sky is giving 25 lucky viewers the chance to watch the first episode of the next season of Game of Thrones on March 18.

Nearly a month before the show arrives on Sky Atlantic and Now TV on April 13, a select few will be invited to watch the first episode in one of the iconic and historic settings of the Tower of the Hand Tower of London.

Competition winners will be able to mingle with cast and crew at the red carpet event as well as being among some of the first people in the world to watch the new episode.

The new series promises to be the most explosive yet, with a wealth of new characters and settings promised by the recently-leaked trailer (minor spoiler warning).

Director of Sky Atlantic in the UK, Zai Bennett said: “Game of Thrones is the must see show of the year and a massive show for Sky Atlantic so I am delighted we will be hosting the world premiere for this epic show at the Tower of London. I can’t think of a more fitting venue to give what promises to be another unmissable series its big launch.”

Details on competition entry are thin on the ground right now, but will be announced soon on Sky’s Game of Thrones hub page – one for your bookmarks folder. Previous Game of Thrones premieres have taken place in London’s Guildhall (season 4) and One Marylebone (season 3) a former church designed by Sir John Soane. At this rate, the season 6 premiere seems destined to take place inside Buckingham Palace.

Sky recently revealed that Thronecast, it’s post-event recap show, is to be shot in front of a live studio audience for the first time, featuring Great British Bake Off star Sue Perkins at the helm.

Fans of and newcomers to the hit series based on writer George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books will be able to catch up via Sky On Demand and Now TV from March 1.
