4G Freeview retune kicks off in Scotland tomorrow morning

Freeview owners across various parts of Scotland will need to retune tomorrow, April 17 as the clearance for 4G continues. 

Viewers in the Angus, Dundee, south west Highlands and Islands, Perth and Fife, Rosneath and Scottish Borders transmission regions will need to retune their Freeview TVs and set-top boxes. 

From 6:00AM, residents connected to Angus and Rosneath relays will need to retune. The majority of viewers will need to retune from 9:00AM onwards with others requiring a tune up in the late afternoon. We’ve provided a full breakdown of the times below.

This retuning is a part of ongoing efforts to clear parts of the spectrum in anticipation of 4G services arriving on the 800MHz band this summer. Despite fears that 4G would wipe out gazillions of Freeview TV sets, initial live trials reveal that this might not be the case.

• Killin HP – after 9:00AM
• Killin VP – after 9:00AM
• Perth – after 9:00AM
• Strathallan – after 9:00AM
• Tummel Bridge – after 9:00AM

Rosneath

• Ardnadam – after 9:00AM
• Garelochhead – after 9:00AM
• Rosneath – after 6:00AM
• Rosneath HP – after 6:00AM

Selkirk

• Bonchester Bridge – after 9:00AM
• Innerleithen – late afternoon

Where’s next?

The next place to retune will be Caithness on April 24. Roughly 22,000 homes will be affected.
