Apple TV can now get Sky entertainment and movies through Now TV

Apple TV customers in the UK can now tune in to Sky content like Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men as well as Sky Movies, thanks to Now TV.

The Sky-owned streaming service aimed squarely at those who don’t want (or can’t get) Sky TV previously only let Apple TV owners get live sporting action with a Sky Sports Day Pass, currently priced at £6.99/day.

As of today, customers with an Apple TV streaming box can sign up for a Now TV Entertainment Pass (£4.99/month) and a Sky Movies Pass (£8.99/month).

As well as Premier League football, Ryder Cup golf and Formula 1 racing, Apple TV customers can now tap into currently showing Sky TV shows like new Sky Atlantic show The Leftovers, Sky 1’s Legends and season 5 of Boardwalk Empire

You’ll also get access to Sky’s box sets, which includes every season of Lost, The West Wing as well as every season to date of Mad Men and Hannibal.

Movies currently available with a Sky Movies pass include Saving Mr Banks, Philomena and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and the 2013 remake of Oldboy coming this week.

Gidon Katz, director of Now TV, said: “Great news for Apple TV users today as we bring our range of Now TV passes to the service.

“There’s never been a better time to get stuck into gripping box sets like The Walking Dead or The West Wing, right from the very first episode, plus get unlimited access to hundreds of the latest award-winning movies like American Hustle – straight to your main TV screen.”

Sky recently announced incoming price changes for Now TV. The Entertainment and Movies Passes are set to go up to £6.99/month and £9.99/month from October 16 onwards.

Sky Movies Month Pass, Entertainment Month Pass and Sky Sports Day Pass activate immediately upon purchase and are billed directly to customers’ iTunes accounts.

Currently, the 24 hour Sky Sports pass is priced at £6.99/day but this is due to go back up to its regular price of £9.99/day after November 27.

In August, Sky cut the regular price of the Sky Sports Day Pass ahead of the 2014/15 Premier League season kick off. At the same time it introduced a weekly pass, which costs £10.99 for seven days access. This option remains unavailable to Apple TV customers.
