Sky Talk connection and per minute fees to increase in December

Sky will be increasing the monthly cost of connection fees from the first of December onwards for customers who make use of the Sky Talk landline service.

The connection fee – the minimal charge applied to calls made outside of inclusive evening and weekend or anytime calls – will increase from 13.1p to 13.87p.

Similarly, the per minute rate for calls made outside of evening and weekend hours to 01, 02, 03 and 08701 numbers will increase from 7.95p per minute to 8.41p per minute.

As is standard with most landline phone packages, Sky Talk offers those on Weekend, Evening & Weekend and Anytime call plans the first hour of the call free. You can of course hang up after the hour and redial if you want to avoid paying the new connection fee and per minute rate after the first 60 minutes is up.

This news follows an announcement from BT earlier in the year that fees for out of bundle charges on its broadband and phone packages would come into effect from January next year.

Sky has also recently increased its line rental for customers who joined before the 1st of September, up to £14.50/month from £12.25/month.

Even though this is cheaper than BT’s line rental of £14.60/month (which will be rising in 2013 to 15.45/month) Sky is giving customers the option to cancel their Sky Talk subscription and pay for line rental elsewhere without incurring any charges.
