Mobile operator Three will roll out its 4G network to 47 towns and cities in the UK by the end of 2014, with London, Manchester and the West Midlands first to benefit.
The firm will also start up superfast mobile broadband to four cities by the end of this year. It will debut in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Reading. The Manchester rollout will include Oldham, while West Midlands roll out will include Dudley, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton.
The operator will also start 4G services in 42 other places by the end of 2014. Details of the rollout can be found on Three’s website.

No hefty price tag. No extra charges. No expensive new phones or contracts. And no fuss.”
All of Three’s customers will, with a suitably enabled 4G phone, be able to access the next generation technology for no extra cost, unlike its rivals. Customers will be able to enable 4G with a “simple software upgrade” according to the operator.
Three is the last of the UK’s major operators to launch a 4G network. Vodafone and O2 began their services at the end of August, while EE launched its network in October last year. EE recently announced it has switched on 4G in 100 towns and cities in the UK.
