Tooway satellite broadband router sends VPN links via space

Businesses can run a secure VPN at up to 20Mbps over satellite broadband with Eutelsat’s latest Tooway sat modem.

The One1520 satellite router has been designed by OneAccess for businesses with widespread offices that need to be connected over a secure high-speed network.

It works over Eutelsat’s KA-SAT high throughput satellite that can reach up to 20Mbps downstream with 6Mbps upstream, and the router has built-in traffic acceleration, IP routing and IP-VPN secure transport.

“The One1520 is a fully integrated solution that delivers accessibility, transparency and performance.

“When combined with the power of KA-SAT, the result is a one-box solution for business and a high quality secure service which is a genuine fully-fledged complement to any business DSL service in operation today.”

Tooway packages start from around £20/month, although the One1520 will be part of an enterprise solution rather than a single-customer subscription.

KA-SAT covers Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, using spot-beams which re-use the high capacity Ka-band frequencies, allowing many more customers to access a single satellite than with older Ku-band technology.
