Meet the Team
The team behind Recombu provide you with the latest news and reviews covering everything from mobile, digital and cars. Since we launched as an indepedent mobile publication in 2009, we have grown steadily and are now in the process of increasing our scope by covering digital and cars. You can find out more about the team behind Recombu below.
Andrew Lim is a phone guru who has travelled the world in search of the latest mobile tech. He was the mobile phones editor at CNET UK for three years, has written for GQ and the Telegraph, and judged the best handset for the Global Mobile Awards 2009. When he's not looking at mobiles, he's eating dim sum.
Tweaking Orange SPVs and Sony Clies in his university youth and writing for phoneArena since 2010, Basil has always been a mobile phone junkie. Unboxing Samsung Galaxy S2’s while hanging off cliffs in his spare time, Basil joins Recombu with reckless abandon, a penchant for photography and an Android baking blog.
Alex cut his journalism teeth writing for local newspapers, before getting stuck into consumer technology with a 12-year stint writing and editing What Satellite & Digital TV magazine. When he’s not trying to make space on his Sky+, Alex is often dreaming of more road trips to places without roads. Favourite cuppa: Early Grey with vanilla.
Rory Reid is an award-winning motoring journalist and TV presenter of Gadget Geeks on Sky 1. Rory carries at least two mobile phones with him at all times, is constantly breaking things and loves the smell of burning clutches in the morning.
Thomas Newton is an in-house staff writer for Recombu.com, a self-styled Android fanatic and is generally obsessed with all things mobile. While he doesn't quite share Andrew Lim's enthusiam for dim sum, he is partial to a mean phal from time to time.
In the midst of studying a design degree at university, Alex spent his spare time running a video game podcast and blog, this paired with his passion for mobile helped propel him into the world of mobile tech journalism.
A freelance writer and contributor to Recombu, when he's not deliberately watching bad movies, Ben can be found obsessing over the latest and greatest gadgets. he strives to get his hands on phones and tablets of all shapes and sizes. Over the years he's wrangled strange and peculiar devices such as the Samsung BlackJack, the OQO Model 2 Plus, the Viliv S5, and a toaster. He continues his quest with modern day smartphones and tablets, yet still thinks flip phones are cool.
