EE launches UK’s cheapest 4G tablet – the Alcatel One Touch Pop 7S

EE has revealed the UK’s cheapest 4G tablet, the Alcatel One Touch Pop 7S, which can be yours for just £99.

If you’re looking to stick a 4G tablet under someone’s tree this holiday season, you could do worse than EE’s newly launched Alcatel One Touch Pop 7S; the cheapest way to enjoy 4G surfing on the move. EE is selling the Pop 7S for £99 with a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SIM included for good measure.

The Pop 7S tablet features a quad-core CPU clocked to 1.2GHz, 8GB of storage and 1GB RAM, as well as front and rear cameras and a micro SD slot, so you can chuck in some extra storage when you’re running low. The device runs on Android – sadly it’s just creaky old 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, but it’ll be upgradeable to 4.4 KitKat over the air immediately upon purchase, and hopefully the spangly new 5.0 Lollipop in the near future.

EE is also running another Christmas promotion alongside the launch of the One Touch Pop 7S, which could be a nice little bonus for buyers of the tablet. The service provider is offering 100MB of data for free every month with every 4G smartphone purchased between now and the 28th December, and every 4G tablet purchased between now and the 31st January – so if you’re looking to pick up a nice new tablet, the January sales might be just the ticket.

The promotion should offer new users a taste of what 4G can offer and it doesn’t even require users to top-up to activate it; you’ll get your 100MB every month without any strings attached. Once you start downloading music or video you’ll burn through that allowance fast though, so make sure you grab a data deal to go along with it, lest you end up running out of data halfway through The Great Escape on Christmas Day.
