LG G3 Stylus packs a pen and allegedly better price tag

LG has officially launched the G3 Stylus, a new version of its flagship phone for creative users, which comes packing a stylus pen at an ‘exceptional price’ – although the cost is still a mystery…

LG inadvertently revealed its new G3 Stylus handset in an advert last month, but now the Galaxy Note-apeing smartphone is an official release. The LG G3 Stylus looks like a carbon copy of the five-star LG G3, complete with a mighty 5.5-inch display, but now that spacious screen is being put to better use with a scribbly stylus pen for getting your doodle on.

LG G3 Stylus smartphone officially launched with stylus pen, UK price still unannounced

LG promised that the G3 Stylus will boast an ‘exceptional price’ when it hits the UK, but neglected to actually tell anyone what the cost would be. However, we do know that LG has slashed some of the premium specs from the phone, so we’re likely to see it release with a mid-range price tag, possibly around £299-£349.

For a start, the LG G3 Stylus no longer packs an incredible ‘quad HD‘ screen, making do with a 960×540 resolution. At just 200 pixels-per-inch (ppi), that’s a serious drop from the LG G3’s supremely sharp 538ppi, and likely to be a deciding factor for anyone choosing between this phone and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 (or indeed the Galaxy Note 4, which is launching next week).

A 1.3GHz quad-core processor runs the show, backed up by 1GB of RAM, and you get 8GB of storage expandable via microSD. A 3,000mAh battery should hopefully still keep you going all day.

As for the cameras, you get a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 1.3-megapixel shooter at the front.

We’ll bring you a full hands-on review of the LG G3 Stylus at IFA 2014, which kicks off on Wednesday September 3rd.
