Nokia 3600 Slide Review

3

The mid-level handset is a tricky one to get right at the moment, especially as high-end handsets are gradually getting cheaper. Can the Nokia 3600 Slide charm its way into your heart? We spent some time with it to find out.

What we like
Pop it out if its box and you’re presented with a cute slider phone that slipped easily into our pockets. The layout of the keypad on the 3600 Slide makes texting a pleasure and basic navigation through the now familiar Nokia menu system won’t cause you any problems.

The 3600 Slide has a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash that we found OK for taking the odd snapshot but don’t expect it to replace your digital camera. The 3600 Slide also features an FM radio, and Bluetooth and a media player that’s compatible with most major file formats (MP3, MP4 etc) and is relatively easy to use.

What we don’t like
There’s no 3G or Wi-Fi so browsing the web is pretty slow. The image quality of the camera is also a bit disappointing particularly in low light. We also noticed that when we used the slide action the bottom buttons of the 3600 Slide can get scratched — admittedly a minor complaint but imagine what the bottom row of keys will look like after a few months.

Conclusion
The Nokia 3600 Slide offers is great if you’re not after the next best thing. It looks good, it’s solid and compact. It might not do everything but what the 3600 Slide does do, it does very well. Ideal for the utilitarian types who want to be able to call and text quickly and accurately.
