Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge headed to Vodafone, EE, Three, O2, Virgin Media

If Samsung’s odd triptych-shaped screen has tickled your fancy, you’ll be thrilled to learn that it’s coming to a trio of UK networks – Vodafone, EE and Three.

Prices for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge haven’t been announced yet – so far all we’ve got is a heads up from the networks – but we can expect that this one will cost a bomb.

Specs-wise its virtually identical to the Galaxy S6. It’s got the same resolution (an eye-poppingly detailed Quad HD 2,560×1,440 screen) the same 16-megapixel camera (f/1.9, IMX240 sensor) and a mammoth 64-bit Exynos octa-core processor backed up with 3GB of RAM.

Want to get closer to the S6 Edge? Check out our hands on picsThe only major difference is that convex screen. While we don’t have any information on prices yet, we can realistically expect that the curved display will add a few extra quid on to your monthly bill. For those less wowed by Sammy’s wonky panel concept, you’ll also be able to get a regular, flat-screened Galaxy S6 on the same networks. Again, no word on prioces for this one right now. We’ll keep you posted.

As with the Galaxy S6, you’ll get able to tap into EE’s faster LTE-Advanced speeds on the go, which if EE’s speed tests are to be believed will give you an average download speed of 90Mbps

You’ll also be able to make use of EE’s new WiFi Calling service on the S6 Edge which lets you take and make calls on WiFi at home instead of the regular network.

Unlike WiFi calling apps of the past, EE promises that its WiFi Calling service will be built into the dialler of its phones. It’ll be a native experience that happens automatically without you having to open up a separate app. More on this as and when we hear it.

Update 1: O2 has now told us that it too will be selling the Galaxy S6 Edge along with the Galaxy S6. O2 isn’t talking about prices or dates just yet, but it did reveal that the Galaxy S6 Edge will be available on O2 Refresh – so maybe don’t sell that Note 4 just yet.

Update 2: Virgin Media has now confirmed that it’ll be selling the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from April 10 onwards. No word on price yet, but Virgin says that its WiFi Buddy app will be pre-installed, giving customers streamlined access to over 150,000 hotspots around the UK.
