Sony’s SmartWatch 3 wearable hitting the UK on November 16th

We were first able to spend some time with Sony’s upcoming SmartWatch 3 at IFA 2014 and it’s now coming to the UK this month.

If you’ve been wondering, like we have, when the highly anticipated Sony SmartWatch 3 would finally hit the shops, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the device will go on general sale on 16th November. If you were one of the few clever people who pre-ordered the device, then you’ll be even happier, because you should have your smartwatch by the end of the week!

Sony confirmed this via a statement which reads “Users among the first to pre-order SmartWatch 3 in the UK will be receiving their devices from the end of this week – wider availability and shipping will commence from November 16” and although it seems slightly bizarre for a device to launch on a Sunday, we won’t question it as we’ve been expecting it to be available since 23rd October.

With the slew of smartwatches hitting the market lately, including three new devices announced by FitBit just yesterday, Sony will have to do some serious work on its marketing strategy if it wants to make an impact on a rapidly burgeoning market. The FitBit Surge, the most expensive of the three devices retailing at £199 boasts an integrated GPS tracker and up to seven days of continuous battery life, without needing to be tethered to a smartphone and is likely to be one of the Sony SmartWatch 3’s closest competitors, along with the upcoming Apple Watch.

With just under three weeks until the SmartWatch 3 goes on sale, you’ve got a while to save the £189 you’ll need to invest in one of these devices – or indeed, to wait and see if another smartwatch takes your fancy in the meantime.
