Let’s Get Retarded over Will.I.Am’s new Puls smartwatch

Rapper Will.I.Am’s new ‘Puls’ smartwatch has launched, with the ‘power to revolutionise wearable technology’.

Just two days ago we reported that all-round creative type Will.I.Am was about to launch his new smartwatch just one day before the Apple event. Mr. I.Am didn’t disappoint, revealing his ‘Puls’ wearable which apparently took 35 engineers two and a half years to create. What’s more it works independently of your smartphone.

The Android-powered Puls has a SIM card slot and makes calls directly from your wrist (yes, we’re already imagining how Dick Tracy we’ll look) and can keep you updated on social media happenings without any phone input, making this a truly standalone device. So, kind of like the Samsung Gear S, then.

Never to be outdone by Apple, the Puls will have its very own voice-controlled assistant, known as Aneeda, as well as apps for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Inside the Puls you’ll find 1GB RAM and 16GB of on-board storage for carrying around your media and apps, as well as a pedometer, GPS and accelerometer.

The device is being offered by AT&T in the States and O2 in the UK, a move which O2 marketing and consumer director Nina Bibby thinks makes perfect sense:

“Music and technology are in O2’s DNA, which is why we’re so excited to be giving O2 customers the opportunity to exclusively get their hands on the Puls in the UK. We’re committed to bringing our customers the latest and most innovative devices and with Puls they will be able to explore a whole new level of connectedness. By combining cutting edge technology with music and fashion, the Puls has the power to revolutionise wearable technology.”

Sadly for the many Will.I.Am fans here in the UK, there are no details on price or a release date just yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything.
