Android
Android is an operating system owned by Google. Android smartphones are available at different points - ranging from £50- £500, couple this with the sheer quantity of phones available and Android is an OS that is accessible to many and currently the most biggest mobile phone operating system in the world.
A wide range of manufacturers create phones running Android, including LG, Samsung, HTC, ZTE, Huawei, Motorola and Asus.
Like iOS and Windows Phone, Google releases regular software updates equipping its phones with new features. These updates take the names of sweets, so prior to Jelly Bean, it was Ice Cream Sandwich and before that Honeycomb. Each of these updates is released first on a flagship device, bearing the ‘Nexus’ brand, such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Google Nexus 7 tablet.
