Acer Liquid Express: NFC Android smartphone launching

Acer has announced a new addition to its smartphone line-up, in the form of the Acer Liquid Express, which is the company’s first handset to include an NFC Chip.

Running Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 the Acer Liquid Express is a mid-range handset, powered by an 800MZHZ Qualcomm processor. It has a 3.5-inch HVGA screen and a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash.

NFC (which stands for Near Field Communication) chips are increasingly found in smartphones, including all of RIM’s recent handsets, including the Blackberry Bold 9900, Galaxy Nexus and the Nokia N9 and C7.  Acer has confirmed all its future handsets will incorporate the technology.

Allen Burnes from Acer comments: ‘Even if contactless technology has only just started spreading across the UK, it is important for the customer to take into account future need when choosing a new model. In a few months’ time quite a number of smartphone users, whose new smartphones don’t include NFC functionality, will have to change their mobile in order to benefit from this new technology.’

Available in Titanium Grey in the UK (although Burgendy and White versions are aavailbale elsewhere) , the Acer Liquid Express includes a App SocialJogger lets you sync Facebook, Twitter and Flickr accounts,

The Acer Liquid Express is launching now. The price is £15.32 a month on T-Mobile and £20.50 on Orange on 24-month contracts.
