Apple’s iWatch could land this autumn

Apple iWatch set to hit UK stores en-masse in Q3 2014, according to the latest leaky internet reports, and as more than one model.

The rumours have been stretching on for months now, but Apple’s fabled smart watch, dubbed the iWatch, could finally be unveiled just after summer. The report from Chinese-language Economic Daily News names Quanta Computer as the iWatch manufacturers, with Taiwanese company Richtek designing some of the internal components and TPK supplying the touch screen.

Apparently Apple aims to ship 65 million iWatches by the end of the year, which would make it by far the most popular smart watch to date. In comparison, Samsung claimed it sold around 800,000 Galaxy Gears in the first couple of months (although other sources put the number at closer to 50,000) and Pebble shifted around 200,000 watches in the last half of 2013 – not bad at all considering the size of the company.

In other iWatch news, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that more than one model of iWatch will be released – a likely prediction, we reckon. We can see Apple putting out a cheaper and more expensive model, similar to the iPhone 5c and 5s, with a premium design sporting a much nicer design.

In the meantime, here’s a silly video about the Apple iToss, a made-up thing that turns any smartwatch into an Apple device.
