Apple iWatch rumour and news leak history

There were rumours of an experimental wearbale Apple device well over a year ago, but all the way back in February 2013, some unnamed sources told Bloomberg that 100 designers were actually working on the Apple smart watch. The sources even named Apple’s Senior Director of Engineering James Foster and Director of iPhone Program Management Achim Pantfoerder as working on the watch.

The ‘iWatch’ name eventually leaked across the internet, after Apple trademarked it in several countries. This shockingly original monicker obviously took a lot of people by surprise.

Things went quiet for a while, but at the start of 2014 we heard rumours that the iWatch may have some built-in medical features. For instance, it could read a user’s pulse and give real-time fitness feedback during sweaty sessions. These rumours were then expanded, with some sources claiming the iWatch could even save your life.

And could we see more than one version of the Apple iWatch? KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that more than one model of iWatch will hit store, and we reckon he’s right. A cheaper and more expensive model makes sense, with a premium version sporting a much nicer design, and the basic iWatch rocking many of the same features but a more colourful plastic chassis, just like the iPhone 5s and 5c.

Of course, Apple got the iPhone 5c pricing badly wrong, which made it hard to recommend – here’s hoping it’s learned from its mistakes.

Apple iWatch UK release date and price rumours

Just this morning we heard the Apple iWatch should hit UK stores in Q3 2014, and while pricing for the iWatch is pure speculation right now, there’s talk that Apple will slap the usual premium price on it, making it even more expensive than Samsung’s original Galaxy Gear (which sold for £299 at launch).

Full news on the Apple iWatch price and release date when we have it, and until then, check out our Everything You Need To Know About The iPhone 6 piece for more Apple leaky rumour gooness.
