Fancy a Porsche for £1,275? Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9981 revs up in Harrods

It’s not just LG and Prada that can turn in a fetching collaboration; Porsche Design and BlackBerry also teamed up to collaborate on the P’9981. The latest in the Porsche Design range which includes fountain pens, toiletries and a collab with Adidas (footwear for, er, driving in?), the P’9981 is a BlackBerry 7-running phone with a Qwerty keyboard and a 2.8-inch VGA resolution touchscreen.

As you’d expect, looks are at the forefront here; the front of the phone is forged from brushed stainless steel, with each of the keys distinct and cut out in neat little segments.

A 1.2GHz processor with 768MB of RAM handles operations and you get 8GB of internal storage, expandable by an extra 32GB through the microSD slot.

As with all of the latest BlackBerry 7 phones, a 5-megapixel camera that can record 720p HD video sits on the back of the P’9981. There’s also an NFC chip built in too, so you’ll be able to make use of the BlackBerry Tag and Wallet systems once they roll around. Shame that Porsche isn’t working on NFC-enabled car door locks; it’d be neat to be able to unlock your Porsche with a P’9981.

According to T3, the asking price for the Porsche Design from BlackBerry P’9981 is a not cheap £1,275 unlocked and SIM free from none other than Harrods. It’s not yet showing on the Harrods site, so you’ll need to get someone to pop in for you, or (heaven forbid) actually in to the shop yourself.

Specs-wise, the P’9981 is very similar to the BlackBerry Bold 9900 – a phone that’s already pretty easy on the eye. So if you’re a little short of a grand and a bit but you want a stylish BlackBerry phone, then then Bold 9900 isn’t a bad bet – and it’s available in white as well.
