Google issue invitations for October 29th event in NY

October the 23rd is Apple’s day to show the press and indeed the world ‘one more thing’, but now Google are pushing invitations out for the following Monday as they announce that the playground is still very much ‘open’.

Android Police were one such site to receive these curious invitations which feature not only the standard information as to where and when, but graphics that look remarkably like that of Google Now, which appeared amidst Google’s last major announcement, when they brought Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the stage, running on the new Nexus 7.

Google Event

The Google Now artwork suggests, as do other rumours, that this event will play host to a less significant update than the jump from ICS to JB, but rather serve as the platform for the company to announce a new Nexus device. We’ve already encountered a lot of talk suggesting that multiple companies are developing their own Nexus-branded handsets and LG’s interpretation, the heavily leaked LG Nexus 4 seems like the most likely candidate.

The lesser known Sony offering is also a possibility as spyshots of a device called the Nexus X have also been seen out in the wild, but whichever device. The true purpose of the event will be revealed when it kicks off on October 29th at 10am EDT (3pm BST) at an undisclosed event in New York and we’ll be bringing you all that we discover once its all over.
