Hands on with the ZTE Light: 7-inch Android 2.2 tablet

As well as the ZTE Skate we also got to have a quick play around with the forthcoming ZTE Light tablet.

This is a slightly different edition to the one that was announced late last year. The specs are more or less the same; it's got a 3-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and 3G and a 7-inch touchscreen. The only major differences is that this screen is capacitive and it runs on Android 2.2.

It reminds us a lot of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, in terms of spec, functionality and design – even the 3-megapixel camera on the back is in a similar place.

It's rather weighty and solid in the hand, giving it a feel of quality and durability. But we wonder how much of an impact the Light make alongside the Honeycomb tablets due to hit the shelves this year.

No concrete release date has been given, but we were told that the ZTE Light is due to arrive in the UK in the second half of 2011. No word on pricing either, but we imagine that this will be priced competitively to, er, compete with the likes of the Xoom and the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Click through for some more hands on pics.
