How much, when and where to buy the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the UK

It’s time – Apple has just unveiled two new larger iPhones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Here’s all the UK pricing and availability information you’re after.

If like us you were drooling at the shiny new phones Apple just unveiled on stage at the Flint Center in Cupertino then the next questions on your lips will no doubt be where and when can I get one? Shortly followed by, ‘how much’? No, really. Wait until you see how much you’re being asked to pay for them out of contract.

When Phil Schiller revealed initial pricing it gave us a bit of a shock – even on a two-year contract, US iPhone 6 Plus owners-to-be will have to fork out at least $299, so how does that translate to the UK carriers and SIM-free pricing?

Princely sums: Apple’s new iPhones are impressive pieces of technology – but they’re also expensive

If you want to buy a phone directly from Apple without any network subsidy, here’s how much the iPhone 6s are going to set you back.

Model 16GB 64GB 128GB
Apple iPhone 6 £539 £619 £699
Apple iPhone 6 Plus £619 £699 £789

If you think that’s a little out of your price range (and we totally understand if you do) then you’ll be pleased to know that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be coming to a number of UK networks and retailers on contract. Prices haven’t yet been announced but expect the network subsidies to take a fair bit off of those initial asking prices.

Tesco Mobile

Tesco’s is open to pre-registration for the iPhone 6, with two-year tariffs starting at £41 a month (or £46 a month for the iPhone 6 Plus) with no up-front cost for the handset and 4G at no extra cost.

That £41 a month tariff bags you the bog-standad 16GB iPhone 6 model with 3000 minutes, 5000 texts and 3GB of data. If you want the 64GB model it’ll cost you from £45 a month, while the 128GB model costs from £48.50.

The same tariffs for the iPhone 6 Plus cost from £45, £49.50 and £53.50 a month.

EE

The UK’s largest network has both officially confirmed that it’ll be selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and lanched a page where you’ll be able to register your interest from September 12 onwards.

An EE spokesperson said: “EE today announced it will offer iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the biggest advancements in iPhone history. Pre-order will commence at 08:01am on 12th September ahead of launch at 08:00am on the 19th September.”

As well as confirming that it’ll sell the new iPhones, EE has been named as Apple’s official partner for Voice over WiFi and VoLTE – or 4G voice calls as we’re sure most people will call them.

Three

Three has announced its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 tariffs too, with a £99 up-front cost for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus and monthly deals starting at £38 a month.

That £38 a month bags you the basic 16GB iPhone 6, with 1GB of data and all-you-can-eat minutes and texts. You’ll need to fork out £41 a month for 2GB of data and £45 a month for all-you-can-eat data.

If you’d rather have an iPhone 6 Plus, add an extra £6 a month onto those prices. And if you want to step up in storage to the 64GB or 128GB models, add on another £5 or £10 a month respectively.

Vodafone

Vodafone has confirmed that it’ll be selling both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus and has said that customers can register here to be the first to receive updates.

O2

We’ve not heard a peep out of O2 yet as to whether or not it’ll be taking either the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

Phones 4u

Phones4u will be selling both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

Scott Hooton, Chief Marketing Officer at Phones 4u told Recombu:

People across the globe look forward to hearing what Apple has got up its sleeve for us next, and every year it delivers smartphones that excite, break the mould and set the path for further evolution.  We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be stocking both new iPhones at all our Phones 4u stores and online, as soon as they arrive in the UK.”

There’s no hint of a pre-order page yet. Hooton also mentioned interest in the Apple Watch, but didn’t confirm whether or not the retailer will stock any of the smart watches. Hooton said: “We know there’s a huge amount of appetite for a smart, wearable device from Apple – our research shows that nearly half of customers (49 per cent) are interested in the launch of an Apple Watch – which is impressive for such a new product category.”

Virgin Media

Virgin Media has also confirmed that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be on sale on September 19th, but there are no other details so far. More details here.
