The HTC One X is already a hot contender for our phone of the year. Too early to say? Perhaps. But have a look at our hands on video and you’ll see what we mean. The HTC One X’s body is hewn from a single shape of polycarbonate and features holes for the speakers micro-drilled into the frame itself – no separate components, less chance of rattling and distortion.
It reminds us a lot of the polycarbonate shell of the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia N9 which also have micro-drilled holes. And like the Lumia 800, the HTC One X is a micro SIM-only deal. When we flip the phone over in the video below, keep an eye out for the micro SIM launcher up on the top left. Like the Apple iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, the launcher pops open with the help of a special tool.
Though we did indeed bring our iPhone 4 with us for comparison (check out our HTC One X hands-on pics) we didn’t bring the little paperclip-shaped tool. Sorry.
In the video we also hope you get an idea of just how good the viewing angles on the HTC One X’s 4.7-inch IPS-enhanced screen are. There’s virtually no air gap between the display and the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen. This means that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich coated in HTC Sense 4 simply oozes out of the pixels.
