Huawei Ascend D1 Q: Quad-core on a budget?

We saw the Huawei Ascend P1 S at CES 2012 and were very impressed by just how much Huawei had crammed in: dual-cores, an AMOLED qHD display, Android 4.0 when virtually all other manufacturers were still showcasing Gingerbread devices and the promise of affordability. Now Huawei appear to have bettered themselves yet again with suggestions that they will in fact be launching their first quad-core handset at MWC, the Huawei Ascend D1 Q.

According to Android and Me, Japanese site Blog of Mobile has revealed that Huawei will release an upcoming Diamond series which is said to offer the “smartest, fastest and most high-performing smartphones”, with two devices expected to be unveiled at MWC this month.

There is plenty of speculation at play here with the grounds for assuming the Huawei Ascend D1 Q is quad-core being the “Q” in its name. In turn, given Huawei’s use of Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor in the past, we can assume their quad-core ventures will embrace the Tegra 3.

In the meantime we will leave you with our CES hands-on with the Huawei Ascend P1 S to remind you how style can indeed meet affordability when Huawei get it right:
