Huawei has confirmed it’s MediaPad tablet will be pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
First announced at the end of last year, the Huawei MediaPad was introduced with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but new versions with have Ice Cream Sandwich and older versions will be updated wirelessly.
Huawei is also extending its tablet range introducing the MediaPad colour series, which comprises of shadow black, classic brown and passion peach, of the tablet.
“In a tablet market defined by staid black and white tablets, the new colourful MediaPad offers a personalised look without the need for an external case,” said Richard Yu, Chairman, Huawei Device.
Both versions of the MediaPad have a 7-inch screen with a 1280x800 HD resolution, IPS technology and 217ppi. They are powered by a dual-core Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor, 5-megapixel primary camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The trio of MediaPad colours will run on Android 3.2, though not Ice Cream Sandwich, although we've contacted Huawei to find out whether an update will be coming in the future.
The MediaPad with Ice Cream Sandwich and MediaPad colour series will be available in selected markets in Q1. Owners of the MediaPad can expect an over-the-air update to ICS by the first quarter.
