Motorola Moto 360 teased yet again in official Google I/O hands-on video

Excited about the Motorola Moto 360? The upcoming Android Wear-powered smartwatch just appeared in an official hands-on video from Google I/O.

In a two-minute clip posted to YouTube, Motorola shows what the 360 looks and feels like up close. Up until this point the team behind the 360 has been relatively tight-lipped about their forthcoming wearable and it remains the most elusive of the first-generation Android Wear devices. In the meantime, all we’ve had to work with are a few mock-ups and computer generated renderings of the device.

The Moto 360 differs from rival smartwatches – namely the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live – by eschewing a rectangular screen in favour of a circular one. Other hands-on accounts from Google I/O reveal that small black strip along the bottom contains the display drivers, allowing the rest of that circular screen to nestle up to a wafer-thin bezel, unlike its Android Wear siblings which both feature larger, thicker frames around the four edges of their square displays.

Motorola wanted to keep the experience premium throughout, forming the Moto 360’s body out of polished stainless steel and adorning it with a premium leather strap. In its box fresh state it looks stunning, but we’re already wondering how it’ll stand up to the bashings and batterings of everyday life.

The rest of the video focuses on the functionality of the 360; demonstrating how messages, reminders and custom watch faces work. You’ll be able to query anything as you would using voice search and Google Now, take or reject incoming calls by swiping one way or the other and tapping either the single hardware button on the side or tapping the display to wake the watch from its slumber.

Details are yet to emerge on price and availability with ‘summer’ as the close to a solid release time frame as we could discern. When they do however, we will be sure to let you know.
