Nokia schedules July 11th event as EOS PureView handset leaks again

If you’ve been wondering when we’ll see the fabled Nokia Windows Phone with PureView included, then wonder no more. The company yesterday sent out invites to media across the world to attend an event in New York City on July 11th, teasing only with a “zoom reinvented” tagline. Take the invite, recent leaks, plus buzz from Nokia employees on Twitter, and it’s not hard to guess what the company has in store.

That 41-megapixel packing Windows Phone looks to be announced on July 11th, then. As if all the teasing wasn’t enough, Vizileaks compared the so called Nokia “EOS” to the Finnish manufacturer’s last flagship, the Lumia 920. From the front, there really isn’t all that much different, which falls in line with reports of Nokia sticking to its current design guidelines.

As for specifications, the handset is said to include a 4.5-inch OLED display with a 1280×768 resolution, 32GB of internal storage, and the PureView 41-megapixel camera. Like the 808 PureView, the camera reportedly doesn’t take full-resolution photos, with users instead given the option of 35-megapixel snaps or oversampled 5-megapixel stills. We’d imagine that Nokia will be including lossless zoom during 1080p video as well, although the company may have even more up its sleeve with a rumoured Pro Camera mode.

Otherwise, this won’t be too far off Nokia’s other Windows Phone, reportedly coming in a polycarbonate shell with multiple colour options. That’s all we know for now, but Nokia will no doubt reveal all on July 11th. We’ll bring you all the news from the event as it happens.
