Rumour: Sony Ericsson ‘Nozomi’ to have 1.5GHz dual-core, full HD 4.3-inch screen, March 2012 release date?

Sony Ericsson have barely finished a round of updates for its Xperia smartphone range, including the Xperia Arc S and Xperia Neo V, but we’re eyeing up its next flagship, currently going under the moniker of Nozomi.

According to Xperia Blog, one of their moles has been in touch to add some specifications to the rumoured big-screen, dual-core beast.

That dual-core processor will be clocked at 1.5GHz, alongside 1GB of RAM, 32GB of non-expandable storage, and a 4.3-inch screen, running at full high-definition 1280×720 resolution. That’s more pixels-per-inch than the fabled retina display of the iPhone 4 . According to the figures, it’ll belt out 342 PPI, compared to Apple’s 326.

Following the trend started by the iPhone 4, and adopted by likes of Nokia’s N9, it’ll take a micro-SIM, and will be bolstered by NFC capability and a substantial 1750mAh battery – hopefully enough to power that oh-so-very-sharp screen.

The leak suggests that the phone could arrive around March 2012 – Sony Ericsson’s typical period for unleashing its big hitter. This year both the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play arrived around this time.

It’s a pretty realistic spec sheet for a phone set to arrive next year – but it’s still firmly in rumour territory for now. More when we get it.
