Samsung Galaxy S2 sells ten million units

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has officially shifted over ten million units, according to Samsung, doubling the number that Sammy had sold just two months ago at the end of July.

And by all accounts, Samsung are pretty pleased with themselves: “In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.” says JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

Its tremendous popularity and tremendous growth aside, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a lot to recommend it, trumping Apple’s ubiquitous iPhone as a media handset with its bigger, Super AMOLED display and size-zero, 8.5mm thin body. With the prevailing rumours now that the next iPhone will be an iPhone 4S rather than a totally redesigned iPhone 5, it’s also got a good shot at being our phone of the year at the Recombu Awards.
