Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray coming to Vodafone

The Android Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray has appeared on the coming soon page of the Vodafone UK website, indicating the carrier will be selling the handset when it arrives later this year.

Pitched as a mid-range handset, it runs Android 2.3.3 and is powered by a 1Ghz processor and seems to sit just under the Arc in Sony Ericsson’s range, we’re hoping it will be slightly cheaper – although there’s no news on pricing or availablilty.

Interestingly Vodafone will be stocking the gold and black – not the blue and pink versions.

We had some hands-on time with the Xperia Ray recently and we were really impressed (check out our hands-on pictures here), it’s very thin at 9.4mm and slightly smaller than the Arc but adds a high-quality aluminium body, giving the product a high-quality feel.

Like other Xperia handsets the Ray has promising imaging credentials. The camera captures 8-megapixel stills and 720p HD videos, along with the added bonus of a front-facing camera for VGA video calls. Elsewhere the bright and sharp 3.3-inch display really benefits from Sony Ericsson’s Reality Display screen technology and an above average resolution of 854×480.

Vodafone is the second network to confirm it will be stocking the handset, following O2. Interested? Register your details on the Vodafone website.
