Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play gets a booster with OnLive

OnLive is a global cloud gaming service, allowing you to live stream games online via a number of different devices and running on its servers. This means more power and console quality experience, without the need for heaps of storage. The gaming company released an app this month for iOS and Android, opening it up to our smartphone and tablet world. However one little detail was missed out and those running the app on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, with its slide-out controller, were left only able to use the touchscreen controls.

Thankfully OnLive has been super fast at releasing a free update that now allows Xperia gamers to utilise the super fly controller their device was made to use. The update activates all of the devices hardware capabilities – just in time for the holiday break.

Xperia Play and Android users can find the app on the Android Market here

“From the moment we launched our OnLive Android app, gamers began asking about Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY game control support,” said Steve Perlman, OnLive Founder and CEO. “We listened and delivered. Now Xperia PLAY gamers in the US and UK can play almost all of OnLive’s 200 premium titles-including hit AAA games like Saints Row: The Third and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations-on their Xperia PLAY smartphone with a full console-class experience, including multiplayer and social features.”
