Next-gen Nexus 7 seen yet again in leaked press render and Best Buy ad

There’s only a couple days left until Google takes to the stage and announces the next-generation Nexus 7, but there are still a few last minutes leaks to cover. The first comes from a leaked Best Buy advert courtesy of PhoneArena, confirming the slightly higher $229 price for the 16GB version of the refreshed Nexus 7, as well the higher resolution display.

The blurb for the advert says that the new Nexus 7 will indeed carry a higher 1920×1200 resolution screen, a nice improvement from the 1280×800 panel used on the current Nexus 7. There’s a nice hint at the release date too, with the flyer saying that the tablet will be available on Tuesday. With an announcement expected on July 24th – this coming Wednesday – then we could see an official release on July 30th.

And as if the price and potential release date wasn’t enough, we also have a great look at the new version of the tablet thanks to a leaked press render from @evleaks. The design is mostly similar to the current version, but there have definitely been some tweaks. There are what look to be dual speakers on the back of the tablet, a rumoured 5-megapixel camera, and Nexus branding that’s designed to be seen in landscape mode. The front is slightly different too, with larger bezels above and below the screen, as well as a notification LED.

Google is holding an event this Wednesday that should show off the new Nexus 7, and possibly Android 4.3 as well, so we’ll find out more then. We’ll be covering the event and will bring you the news as it happens.
