Samsung 16MP smartphone camera revealed, appearing in Galaxy S3?

Apple may be struggling to catch up in the camera stakes with a rumoured 8MP snapper being wedged into the body of the iPhone 5, but Samsung are reportedly storming into the future with a cutting edge 16MP camera that’s being tipped for inclusion in the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Currently, the highest resolution camera available to the would-be smartphone paparazzi is the 12MP sensor found in the Nokia N8 (a phone which, sadly, doesn’t have a whole lot else to recommend it). Standard among the top-end smartphones du jour is the 8MP cam, as found on current Android faves the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation.

We caught wind of the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S3 earlier this month, hearing talk of a 2GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 32 gigs of internal storage. Although we’ve not had word of a release date as yet (or any serious sources confirming these super-cutting edge specs), we wouldn’t expect a Galaxy S3 any time soon, what with Samsung having shifted 10 million of their Galaxy S2s in the four months since it was released.S
