Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to feature on The X Factor

It might sound odd that the forthcoming Android phablet and the interactive UK reality talent show should cross paths like this, but the new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is set to be the first piece of product placement in the UK show and will be the only device to sport a new purpose built X Factor app.

Simon Cowell previous struck a lucrative deal with Pepsi for the US version of The X Factor, but now Samsung’s new phablet is set to feature in the ‘judges houses’ portion of the series which kicks off this Saturday (September 29th). Contestants in the later stages will also receive a Samsung phone and tablet once they make it into the live portion of the series.

The X Factor and Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Avikar Jolly, Head of Brand & Communications, at Samsung UK said: “We’re excited to be working with ITV and FremantleMedia Enterprises on this partnership for The X Factor. We pride ourselves on our devices being innovative and industry-leading so the fact this is a ‘first’ fits perfectly with our own ethos and ambitions as a brand.”

It’s not just on TV that Samsung are leaving their mark, although appearances of Samsung products set to feature in the Xtra Factor have also been scheduled, online video diaries are another likely forum for Samsung product placement which will be shared across The X Factor website, the official Facebook Page and official Twitter feed.

The X Factor might not seem like the most likely channel with which to market the new Galaxy Note 2 to the UK consumer, but with 19.7 million viewers at its height and the fact it’s one of ITV’s most popular shows, it isn’t a bad place to start.
