Galaxy Tab ‘smart case’ is pulled by Samsung

This mouth-wateringly, familiar cover for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 won’t be making it to official range of Samsung-branded accessories- and may not make to customers at all, having been recently pulled from the manufacturers’ site.

Borrowing heavily – very heavily – from the design cues of the iPad 2’s smart cover, it also doubles as a tripod for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Recently spotted on Anymode’s site, Samsung has already pulled the mighty attractive cover, saying that: “As a general practice, Samsung Electronics reviews and approves all accessories produced by partners before they are given the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark.”

“In this case, approval was not given to Anymode for the accessory to feature this official designation. We are working with Anymode to address this oversight and the product has already been removed from the Anymode sales website. The product has not been sold.”

We can confirm the covers seen above have now been scrubbed from the site. Anymode still offers several other tablet and smartphone covers brandishing the Designed for Samsung Mobile watermark.

According to Google’s translation, the pulled cover doesn’t offer the same clever sleeper functions that the iPad’s offering managed through magnetic interactions between the cover and the tablet.
