HTC Magic Pioneer: Vodafone to release the Magic on 1st May

Vodafone has pulled one out of the hat by suggesting that the new HTC Magic will be arriving on the 1st of May. Previously it was thought that the Google Android powered handset would be released in April. The gadget minded folks at Mobile Today however, have announced that the phone will be released on the 1st of May and will now be dubbed the HTC Magic Pioneer.
Quite why the name has changed is anyone's guess but we've had our hands on one of these little beauties and we can tell you that the HTC Magic is more than worth the wait. The Magic is a Google Android powered mobile that is sure to turn heads with its chic white design. The handset has a high-end feel about it and you are sure to turn heads whenever you pull this piece of great tech out of your pocket.
As you would expect the Magic gives you the full suite of Google applications to play with. Mail, search and maps are slammed straight into the palm of your hand. The Magic is also compatible with the tabloid's favourite ‘scare of the moment’ mobile app, Google Street View. This, despite what you may have read in the papers, isn't going to cause hordes of burglars to come knocking at your door. Street view allows you to view 360 degree photos of the street, in areas where the service is supported, with the UK currently being added to the application. At the moment it will only cover the major metropolitan areas and the main arterial roads of each area.
Our first impression of the Magic was on the whole very positive and if Vodafone and HTC want to take the extra time to iron out any kinks with the handset then that’s alright by us. We'll be reviewing the HTC magic in more depth soon.
