INQ, the mobile manufacturer that began at 3, is working on a handset that features mobile Twitter integration at its core. Given that the first INQ phone was unofficially dubbed 'The Facebook Phone', it was inevitable that a Twitter version would soon follow.
The as of yet unnamed phone (INQ2?) will allow people to remotely log in and Tweet messages of up to 140 characters on the fly. The INQ1 syncs mobile contacts with their Facebook profiles, so that profile images are displayed when someone calls. Status updates are received 'live' as they happen - presumably we'll see a similar level of integration on the Twitter phone.
Twitter SMS updates are already available to UK mobile users but currently only those on Vodafone. INQ chief executive Frank Meehan said that the INQ model would be the first mass-market phone to feature full Twintegration.
"This can really help open up and drive Twitter use on mobile when usage becomes part of your data package like on the PC," Meehan said.
With that in mind, we can expect the tariffs to mirror those currently available for the INQ1 -- both of the Texter & Internet tariffs from 3 provide inclusive data usage and unlimited monthly texts, and cost £15 and £20 respectively.
There's no word yet on any of the phone's other features, or how much it will cost, but it is due for a release around Christmas time.
