iPhone 4 FaceTime is definitely for porn: Bad luck, Apple
We knew it wouldn’t be long before FaceTime was put to good use by the “adult entertainment industry”. Indeed, as soon as the iPhone 4’s video calling capabilities were announced ads went up on Craigslist to recruit people willing to get naked in front of strangers using either the front- or, ahem, rear-facing cameras. Presumably the iPhone 4 comes as a perk of the job.
Well, video sex chat fans, the time is drawing near. One adult production company in the US is just weeks from taking your hard earned cash in exchange for some FaceTime with the stars of its videos. A spokesman for Pink Visual told the Associated Press that it’ll cost you around $5 a minute for the pleasure.
The UK’s porn industry seems to be a little behind the curve on this one, or perhaps they’re just being sneakier about it – you know, a secret handshake and a covert £50 note changing hands – but no doubt a burgeoning FaceTime sex chat scene is already on its way.
It’s not without its challenges though, FaceTime sexy time. "You can have the phone on your face, or other body parts, but not both at the same time," said Teagan Presley, who acts in adult films and performs in video chats. "Most customers want the full package, and it's going to be difficult holding a phone." We humbly suggest some kind of iPhone stand could help.
But why is FaceTime being so publicly embraced by the industry when video calling has existed for ages on other platforms? It’s Apple’s own fault for having made such a song and dance about keeping its App Store squeaky clean. The company has made its bed, if you will.
Prudish Apple no doubt hopes this attention will all, ahem, blow quietly over – but where there’s salaciousness and licentiousness and naked people doing bad things, the internet will always be greatly interested. Sorry Apple.
