Nokia Lumia 710 unboxing video and first impressions

Since we heard talk of burning platforms from Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop last year, the Finnish mobile giant has thrown down the gauntlet, coming on strong with an aggressive marketing push for their Lumia 800 and the grand unveiling of their Lumia 900 on an unsuspecting US audience at CES 2012. In turn, we've got a pretty good idea of how their upper-eshelon devices stack up, but since Nokia world, we haven't heard much about the more affordable Nokia Lumia 710 - until now.

With a release on the cards for 1 February, we've just gotten hold of a sample unit of the Lumia 710, complete with 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass WVGA display and removable battery. For an affordable device, we're pleasantly surprised by how comfortably it sits in the hand, the feel of the soft touch backing and the quality of the clear black LCD display. Loaded with a 1.4GHz Scorpion processor and with 8GB of storage / 512 MB RAM not to mention a 5-megapixel camera, there's every reason to be optimistic about the Nokia Lumia 710.

We do have two preliminary gripes, the first being how much the Lumia 710 attracts fingerprints and the second being the adoption of a micro SIM card, however, now it's time to take our Nokia Lumia 710 into a deep dark hole and emerge in a couple of days review in tow. For now, enjoy the unboxing video and feel free to share your thoughts below.
