Widgets, it's got some widgets. Some lovely widgets. Some widgets it has got. Remember that John Smiths ad with Jack Dee? With the dancing ladybirds? It has precisely nothing to do with this phone whatsoever. Samsung's S5600 does have some lovely widgets though, and Orange has seen fit to snap up this neat budget-level touchscreen just in time for the summer.
The Samsung S5600 comes with Samsung's TouchWiz interface, so anyone who has used an Omnia or Tocco before will feel right at home. The S5600 has a 3 panel triptych-style menu screen like the T-Mobile G1, allowing you to thumb through to different apps. Widgets can be dragged and placed on any of these screens for one-click access to the likes Facebook, YouTube, Google Search, or whatever you want.
Orange has synced many of the S5600's features widgets with its own online services. Using the Shazam 'Find Music' app users can find songs and then buy them through the Orange Music Store. Shots taken on the 3.2 megapixel camera can be directly uploaded to the web via Orange Photography, and a shortcut to Orange Windows Live comes pre-installed.
The S5600 comes with 80MB of internal memory and the microSD card slot can take cards of up to 8GB in size. Unfortunately the card slot is located behind the battery, so no hot-swapping kids.
The Samsung S5600 is available now on Orange on a £20 per month, 24 month contact, or for £159.50 on PAYG.
