Waiting for the Palm Pre reminds us of when we were kids and Christmas always seemed so far away – the clock ticks and we just wait. It was previously assumed that Palm would be making us wait until the end of the year for the Pre, but now it seems the Pre could arrive before then.

As you probably already know, the Palm Pre was very recently launched in the US on the Sprint network. Early reports are that the handset has been a resounding success and the launch itself went off without too many problems. The Pre even sold out at various Sprint outlets in the US, so it was always going to be a matter of time until the webOS handset made its way over here.

Reports from Romanian distributors suggest that we may see the Pre in Europe as early as September. As you would expect Palm have not put out any official confirmation of a European release, but it is clear that Palm is up to something with the Pre.

Europe is just too big a territory for Palm to ignore, now that they have a product that can go toe to toe with the best that Apple can muster. So it would not surprise us if this rumour of a September release turned out to be true. There is still no word on what network the Pre will be on when it reaches these shores but those O2 rumours haven't gone away so we expect a big announcement soon.
