Samsung Jet: Samsung's new touchscreen screeches into view

Jet is certainly a macho name for a handset. This makes us wonder why there aren't more phones out there oozing machismo. The Apple Cobra for instance, or the Nokia Bloodbath. Maybe you could have the Sony Ericsson Fang. Well actually in retrospect it's probably a good idea that we don't come up with phone names. We'd probably cause the market to crash.
The Samsung Jet is yet another touchscreen handset. Post iPhone success touchscreens were bound to catch on but to be honest we are slightly shocked at the lack of imagination displayed by the various mobile phone manufacturers and Samsung are not exempt from this criticism. The Jet looks very similar to all the other Samsung touchscreen handsets that are already available.
Thankfully Samsung has loaded the Jet up with technical goodies so it can live up to its name. The 16 million colour WVGA AMOLED display comes in around 3.1-inches and delivers some stunning images. Samsung has also pushed the boat out when it comes to the onboard processor, which races in quicker than Jenson Button at speeds of 800MHz. According to Samsung, the Jet is the fastest full touch handset on the market today.
The Jet features the usual round of multimedia features that you would expect to feature on any modern handset. It has a five megapixel camera, built-in GPS as well as DivX and XviD support so you should be able to download and view videos without any hassle at all.
We think that it will be very hard for the Samsung Jet to impose itself on an already crowded market place. Part of the reason that it is so crowded is that Samsung has released countless touchscreen handsets since the Tocco so it will even be hard for the Jet to go up against the Omnia 2 for instance. We expect the Samsung Jet to make an appearance sometime this month.
