Sony Ericsson Kurara: Super-fast Symbian

By Thomas Newton on Monday, 23rd November 2009

Sony Ericsson may have broken the Symbian speed record with the Kurara, which is being hailed as the the fastest Symbian smart phone to date. The Kurara was leaked on Mobile Review and boasts a touchscreen, an 8-megapixel camera and a Cortex A8 processor, which ought to allow for some serious multitasking.

Mobile Review's pictures suggest that the Kurara will use the same user interface as the Xperia X10. The pictures also show the Kurara running Twitter and Mobile Review's Eldar Murtazin states that a program for access to Facebook comes pre-installed.

The 8-megapixel camera is reportedly capable of recording video in high definition (720p). Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB port - proof that Sony Ericsson is finally moving away from proprietary headphones and memory cards.

In conclusion Eldar says that the Kurara is pleasant to use but that the lack of an AMOLED screen means that the Kurara's imaging capabilities can't compare to the likes of the Samsung i8910 HD. It is estimated that the phone will be available for release in February 2010. Sony Ericsson declined to comment.
