T-Mobile has just announced the launch of the MDA Compact V, a stylish touchscreen tablet which is a rebranded version of HTC's Touch Diamond 2 smart phone tweaked to T-Mobile's specifications. T-Mobile is selling the Compact V on its ability to be customised with widgets, adding shortcuts to the likes of eBay, Facebook, Twitter, and also on it's sat nav capabilities.

Like many of T-Mobile's MDA smart phones that have come before it, a 7-day trial of CoPilot sat nav software comes included with the Compact V. From the 1st of June, T-Mobile will be giving the first 10,000 punters who buy the Compact V on an 18 month plan free access to CoPilot for the duration of the contract.

As with pretty much every business phone made by HTC, the Compact V runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, which is fantastic for mobile email, but not much else. Fortunately, a free upgrade to the more multimedia-friendly Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available in September.

The Compact V isn't all work and no play, it comes with a 5 megapixel camera, and the mobile version of Windows Media Player allowing for MP3 and video playback. The T-Mobile MDA Compact V comes out on the on 21st of May, and will be free on contracts of £50 and above.
