With a long heritage in consumer electronics, ranging from white goods to televisions, LG released its first mobile phone handset in 1996, originally focusing only on the Korean market. The company has since expanded globally as LG Electronics Mobile Communications and in early 2009 the company emerged as the third-largest producer of mobile phone handsets in the world. At the Consumer Electronics Show in 2010, LG showcased the GW990, the first handset to run Intel's Moorestown platform.
