2014 Citroen C1 details and images

2014 Citroen C1 revealed ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut.

2014 is shaping up to be the year of small, quirky cars with fabric roofs. Case in point: Citroen has unveiled the new C1, complete with the use of bright coloured accents and, you’ve guessed it, a fabric roof.

The 2014 Citroen C1 will be available in three and five-door versions. It is 150mm longer than its predecessor, which means interior space is more generous. Boot space is 196-litres with the rear seats up and 750-litres with them folded flat.

In its ‘Airscape’ variant the Citroen C1 has an 80cm x 76cm retractable fabric roof, putting it in a group alongside the new Renault Twingo and the tried and tested Citroen DS3 and Fiat 500. The soft top comes in Sunrise Red, Black or Grey.

Adding to the funky design are ‘bi-toned’ paintjobs comprised eight different exterior colours. There’s also the option of two ‘special launch versions’ that have an Olive Brown roof and a Lipizan White body. 14- or 15-inch wheel covers and 15-inch diamond-tipped alloy wheels are available.

Two frugal engines go hand in hand with the measly 840kg kerb weight, one of which is an 82bhp 3-cylinder VTi 82. It manages 65mpg and 99g/km of CO2 emissions, while generating 118Nm (87lb/ft) of torque. 0 to 60mph takes 11 seconds.

The other is an e-VTi 68 Airdream, which feature a special aerodynamics pack, Stop& Start technology, and an optional clutchless 5-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox. While no efficiency figures have been given for this engine, we suspect it will be more frugal than the VTi 82.

Citroen’s C1 has a 7-inch Touch Drive infotainment system, which is linked to a reversing camera. It can be used for navigation,¬†video and music playback and online radio. The Mirror Screen feature lets it copy content from your smartphone (depending on compatibility) and display said content on the display.

All models benefit from low-resistance tyres, Hill-Start assist and hands-free entry and drive.
