The much-adored Nissan Juke crossover is back, complete with a new Nismo RS version.
If you are a bit partial to the Nissan Juke, you should continue reading. The 2014 Juke, which will go on sale in the summer of 2014, has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show along with a new version of the Juke Nismo RS.
Nissan has bestowed the new Juke with a sportier design, which includes redesigned headlamps that include LED daytime running lights and Xenon bulbs, a redesigned front bumper and LED repeaters on the door mirrors. At the back is a more aggressive rear bumper and boomerang rear lights with LED technology.
Customisation is a key element of the new Juke. Besides three new paintjobs, buyers will be able to put a personal stamp on their new crossover in the form of four interior contrasting colours, different alloy wheels, side sills, roof spoiler, floor mats and armrests to name some of the options.
The boot is now 350-litres in size, up from the 250-litres found in the current Nissan Juke, which means no shopping trip will be too big. Unless you go to Ikea.
Standard equipment on the new Juke includes a CD radio with an AUX socket for connecting an MP3 player or smartphone and LED daytime running lamps. The Visia 1.5dCi and 1.6 Pack include manual air-conditioning, drive computer, driver seat height adjustment and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Accenta trim adds front fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, Nissan Dynamic Control System and chrome interior bits, while the Tekna adds power folding mirrors, NissanConnect, Start/Stop, light and rain sensors, Around View Monitor and Safety Shield. Acenta and Tekna models can also opt for a large glass panel roof.
An improved 1.2-litre DIG-T petrol with 115PS (113bhp) and 190Nm (140lb/ft) of torque, improved 1.6-litre DIG-T petrol with 190PS (187bhp) and an unchanged 1.5dCi diesel with 110PS (108bhp) are the engines on offer. The 1.2-litre DIG-T now boasts 126g/km of CO2 emissions, while the 1.6 DIG-T produces 139g/km.
Now for the Nismo RS. Power has increased by 18PS to 218PS (215bhp) and torque is up by 30Nm to 280Nm (206lb/ft). Nissan has improved the ride and handling, strengthened the body and added bigger brakes. A limited slip-differential is standard on the manual two-wheel drive version, while the four-wheel drive variant has torque vectoring instead.
Aspects unique to the Nismo Juke RS include 18-inch alloy wheels, lower front and rear bumper and wider wings, dark chrome ‘V-motion’ grille, red door mirror caps, red stripe around the car and various RS badges inside and out.
The new Juke will go on sale in the summer of 2014. No word yet on a release date for the Juke Nismo RS. UK prices for both models are unconfirmed.
